Hunting Club Memberships - Annual Invitations!

Time is closing in on the arrangements for 2006 hunting club memberships. It's expected that any available openings in club membership will be filled during this month, and prospective new club members are being contacted now about whether they're still interested in something. Just so you'll know, there are three types of Reed Ranch hunting club memberships available (1) full buck/doe hunting access rights (2) doe-only memberships and (3) memberships for all the 2005 hog, varmint, and fishin' fun weekends. If you've expressed an interest in the past in joining up, we're now in the process of contacting everybody on our contact list.

We sure are proud of our hunting club and all the good stuff they do. They're the best! ismileproud.gif

Our new hunting club strawbosses are son JimmyG and son-in-law JimmyK. They're gonna do a fine job of running things! If you've indicated in the past that you wanted to be on our contact list - and you've not been contacted yet - feel free to let us know your status,,ok? If we haven't made contact, it ain't nothing personal, just old and forgetful. We'll enjoy hearing from you. Thanks!

Reed Ranch Rain Report!

Is It Raining Yet?

The average rainfall in Navarro County, where the Reed Family Ranch is located, is about 39.5". During the whole of 2005, we received 24.6". That's about 14.9" under our annual average,,yikes! Things are mighty dry right now, and it's certainly having an effect on the way we manage things. Ducks don't like this at all! Here's some annual rainfall records for you to take a look at - going back to the awful rainfall accumulation of '99. The 2005 year was one of the worse rainfall years ever! Over one of the past 100 year periods recorded, there's only been 5 years worse than 2005. Most recent worse recorded year was 1963 (42 years ago), with an annual rainfall amount of only 22.2".

The average for the most recent 6 year period - amongst the 1999 and 2005 years shown below, is 37.1".

1999 - 26.7" (12.8" under average for the year)
2000 - 46.0" (6.5" over average for the year)
2001 - 42.7" (3.2" over average for the year)
2002 - 38.0" (1.5" under average for the year)
2003 - 27.4" (12.1" under average for the year)
2004 - 54.2" (14.7" over average for the year)
2005 - 24.6" (14.9" under average for the year)
