OlJim Competes In Longview AlleyFest 5K!
OlJim did his best to compete in the most recent running of the Longview AlleyFest 5K held during the first weekend in June.
Those fast East Texas runners showed him a thing or two - and shut him out of taking any of the medal places!
White-tailed Deer Census Surveys Scheduled to Begin in July on Reed Family Ranch!
It's again time to take our annual deer counts (scheduled to last roughly from the mid-part of July through the end of August).
Current plans are to do three night counts (the results of which will be used to estimate deer density) and enough day counts to view about 200-225 deer. The results of the day counts will be used to estimate buck/doe - and doe/fawn - ratio's.
The Ranch will use this figures to determine the numbers of doe and mature buck to be taken during the deer season - to keep the white-tailed deer population in line with carrying capacity and enjoy some great hunting!.
This past season was a banner season and we're hoping for an even better hunting in 2007-08!
It won't be long now til opening day comes rolling around again. The white-tailed deer season (both gun and bow) begins on the Reed Family Ranch at the end of September and lasts though the last part of January 2008!
