Club Member Travis Rape's Black Buck in Full Body Mount!
When hunting club members Travis Rape and father David rounded the corner and headed up the hill from the Reed Ranch's crawfish pond, they didn't expect to see one of the most rare type of white-tailed deer known! This black buck became a trophy that father and son will never forget!
Travis and David decided to do a full body mount and current plans are for it to be shown in hunting retail centers soon! We'll keep you posted on where it'll be shown, in case you want to check it out.

Gittin' Ready! Opening Day of Ranch Deer Season September 29th - Hunting Club Meeting Planned!
 This coming season, the white-tailed deer season (gun and bow) on the Reed Family Ranch begins on September 29, 2007 and lasts through the end of January 2008. AND the duck and hogs oughta make for some superb hunting!
A meeting of all the hunting club members will be held on Friday, the evening before opening day to talk about the season harvesting goals and such.
We're a'gittin' ready. Looking forward to another great season!
OlJim's 5K "Run for Your Life" for the American Heart Association!

OlJim took home a gold medal in his age division and finished 10th overall in the American Heart Association's "Run for Your Life 5K" run held in Tyler, Texas on Saturday,Sept 22nd.
Oljim is on schedule for his competition at the Texas Senior Games to be held in Temple on Saturday October 20th, 2007. Wish him luck, he's likely gonna need it! 
 5k runs are a hoot! Wow!..some of the greatest people show up at these events. Check out all the pics of the "Run for Your Life" event!

Earlier this summer, a news crew from Texas A&M's LifeScapes Magazine came to visit the Reed Ranch for some video and interviews with Jim and Judy Reed. The magazine, and the accompanying DVD will be coming out in the next few weeks or so.
We sure are proud! We'll be sharing what we can of the magazine article and video of the ranch in later editions of this newsletter. Be on the lookout for it!
Wedding Bells Ring for Son, JimmyG and Ashley Fugate!
Wedding plans for the marriage of son, JimmyG and Ashley Fugate, both of Tyler, Texas, are planned for Saturday, January 19th, 2008, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Congratulations to Jimmy and Ashley! You're gonna have a great life together!
A reception will be held in Tyler during the month of February '08 for lots of friends and family members to attend - and everybody will be able to view the Las Vegas marriage ceremony on a DVD being made especially for the big event!

New Fence Around Mesquite Flats Completed!

The new fence around mesquite flats is now completed. Check out the photo of JimmyG putting the finishing touches on the gate entrance to his place! Thanks to all those that helped out. We sure are proud. It was a job well done!
2007 White-Tailed Deer Counts Completed - 30 Doe Permits Received!
The ranch's white-tailed deer counts have been completed and the numbers have been sent in to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Looks like it's gonna be another great season! We sure are looking forward to the September 29th opening day!
There's a reported 30 doe permits that the ranch will be filling this year. Lotsa good meat for the supper table!
