A hog signs rating is used by hunters and other to be better informed about the level of hog rootin' and activity on the Reed Ranch. Five levels are listed with "little to nada" being the lowest and "YIKES!" being the lowest. Here's what each of the levels look and what each means.
Level FIVE- "YIKES"- Mean just what it says, things are outta control!
Level FOUR- "GETTIN' SERIOUS "- Means that there are lots of signs of hog activity around, but things are pretty serious as far as hog population goes.
Level THREE- "GETTIN' SERIOUS"- Means that there are plenty of signs of hog activity around, but not too much to upset the balance of things. . .as far as ranch wildlife habitat goes.
Level TWO- "SPRINKLED AROUND"-Means that there are signs of hog activity being seen, but not a whole lot to worry about.
Level ONE- "LITTLE TO NADA"- Means little to no signs are being seen. Evidently, most all the hogs have moves on for a while.
We use this one-to-five scale to give our signed-up hunter (and prospective hunters, too) an idea of what they can expect when they come out on a particular date. What this means, as far as the hunting goes, is that each hunter or hunting party will know the scale level of hog activity during the week prior to the hunt.
If it's found that the hog activity is at a lower level than what hunter or a group is comfortable with, a new date can be scheduled. . .no problem.
Thanks! Looking forward to having you out!
