REED RANCH DEER SEASON REPORT, 2003-04
The
2003-04 Reed Ranch deer season ended on January 25th. It was one of
the best season's ever!
The total count total for the 2003-04 season take was 31 deer:
-
6 trophy buck
- 5 cull buck
- and, 20 antlerless deer
We're proud that no 6 ptr's were taken - and many of the younger buck were allowed to walk for another year's take. Our club members did a good job in assessing which buck to take and which should be allowed to grow some more. Here's what the 2003-04 trophy buck looked like in terms of #'s rack points.
-
one 12 ptr buck
- one 11 ptr buck
- one 10 ptr buck
- two 8 ptr's bucks
- and, one 7 ptr buck
Here's
some photo's taken during the year. Way to go, fellers. You dun good!

Sure
was a fun year! I'm already getting ready for the 2005-05 year! Can't
wait! ![]()

2004 FOOD PLOTS TO BE PLANTED ON REED RANCH!
Current plans for food plot planting on the Reed Ranch includes two club member spots and one family food plot. Right now, current plans are to plant about 25 acres (more of less) of nutrition focused primarily on white-tailed deer.
Plant species will include iron and clay cowpeas, alyce clover, buckwheat, jointvetch, and japanese millet. These'll considered warm season food plots focusing on deer nutrition. Currently, there's no plans to plant any cool season food plots.
Since this'll be the Reed Ranch's first formal food plot season over several food plot areas, the 2004 year will be a learning year, with a more full-blown food plot season planned for 2005.
We'll be taking photo's of the planting and such, so you can see how things are going. A club member work day is scheduled for Saturday, March 6, in preparation for the plantings.
The
Reed Ranch photo album keeps getting bigger and bigger. Lots of
fun
photo's fun
photo's to share!
