DATE FOR REED RANCH SPRING BURGER FLING ANNOUNCED!
Special note to all of oljim's huntin' club members!
The
date for our annual Spring Burger Fling is Saturday, May 15th. Mark
your calendars; gonna be fun! ![]()
The Burger Fling is a great time to meet new club members and shoot the breeze with all your buddies. There'll also be a club member meeting to discuss stuff and make some decisions.
Families are welcome. The ranch will be providing the burgers, and club members are invited to bring the rest of the fixin's. More information about this fun event will be coming as the time draws nearer.
Oljim's second triathlon was held at the Cain Center in Athens, Texas, on March 13th, 2004. It was another great event and Jim came in 4th in his age division (bout the same as he did on his last triathlon,,lol,,).
The competition was a 300 yard swim, a 14 mile bike ride and a 3.2 mile run.
As
has been heard muttered by many "less than first-place winners",
it ain't tha winnin' that counts, it's who throws up last!,,lol,,

2004 FOOD PLOT FENCIN' COMPLETED!
There continues to be some mighty hard work being done on the Reed Ranch food plots. Fencing around the Reed family food plot is now competed and the two club member food plots are fenced and ready to go.
Soil preparation will begin soon. It's expected that seed will be planted in April or May, depending on weather conditions and scheduling.
More
to come on this! Oughta be a fun year!
,,,and we plan on learning LOTS about food plot planting on the Reed
Ranch. Here's photo's of some of the sites and also the crew that worked
on the food plot fencin' during a recent club member work day.
Current plans for food plot planting on the Reed Ranch includes two club member spots and one family food plot. Right now, current plans are to plant about 25 acres (more of less) of nutrition focused primarily on white-tailed deer.
Plant species being planned for include iron and clay cowpeas, alyce clover, buckwheat, jointvetch, and japanese millet. These are considered warm season food plots focusing on deer nutrition. Currently, there's no plans to plant any cool season food plots.
Since this'll be the Reed Ranch's first formal food plot season over several food plot areas, the 2004 year will be a learning year, with a more full-blown food plot season planned for 2005.
We'll
be taking more photo's of the planting and such, so you can see how
things are going. Gonna be an interesting year on the Reed Ranch! ![]()
The
Reed Ranch photo album keeps getting bigger and bigger. Lots of
fun
