OlJIM'S TREEHOUSE BUILDING!

Wow!,,still having lots of fun building the Ranch's first treehouse atop of the overlook hill. Lots more work has been done and things are lookin' good!

Friends and family are pitching in and helping out. Braces are set and the floor joists have been put in place and secured by JimmyG, Ashley, and others. The floor is being worked on now and the spiral staircase pieces are completed.

Got lots of great help from Hartini and Seth (and others, too), who were out for the last weekend hunt. More building fun is planned soon!

Here's some photo's from a couple of the most recent building sessions!

Also, take a look at oljim's complete treehouse photo album .

2004 WHITE-TAILED DEER FOOD PLOTTIN' UPDATE!

Mowing and discing is underway. Here's some photo's of the soil prep work and seed has arrived! The seed will be broadcast soon, depending on weather conditions and scheduling.

More to come on this! Oughta be a fun year! ,,,and we plan on learning LOTS about food plot planting on the Reed Ranch. Here's photo's of some of the work being done now and what things are lookin' like!

Plant species being planned for include iron and clay cowpeas, alyce clover, buckwheat, jointvetch, and japanese millet. These are considered warm season food plots focusing on deer nutrition. Currently, there's no plans to plant any cool season food plots.

Since this'll be the Reed Ranch's first formal food plot season over several food plot areas, the 2004 year will be a learning year, with a more full-blown food plot season planned for 2005.

We'll be taking more photo's of the planting and such, so you can see how things are going. Gonna be an interesting year on the Reed Ranch!
